Abstract Narrative
It is generally considered that a narrative will have a beginning a middle and an end, implying that it is going somewhere, that there is a chronology in play. That is not necessarily the case here. The prior to, coincident with and subsequent to vectors are not so important. Unlike graphic novels where direction is driven by text, the lack of cues from a fugitive text leaves us free to read in any direction. It turns out that the diptych and triptych work very well in this respect.
